Generator Safety

Generators, if you can afford one, get one, but DO NOT run it in the house! A couple here in Canada just died yesterday due to this problem and Carbon Monoxide poisoning.

See what windows are facing the most wind factor, and have pywood on hand to cover them, It will prevent blow outs...Windows blowing in can and do kill people. Be protected by NOT remaining in rooms with a lot of windows in them.

Lighting

Have SLOW burning candles and in the kind of lanters that will not start a fire quickly should you tip them over. Camping lanters are excellent for this. Ranch Storm Lanterns are very handy, and work very will in winds due to the 'wind breaks' in them, they were designed this way many years ago on farms!LOL

You can get them at Farming supplie stores all the time, and they are CHEAP! ANd they work well. Oh, don't forget fuel for lamps but get the kind that burns clean as possible. Remember not to keep rooms sealed when using candles or fuel lamps, they take oxygen and a little fresh air does not hurt. Candles provide heat as well. Choosing one main room where people gather is best, and set up sleeping as well in this space. Can keep everyone warm, cosy, and don't forget to keep some air flowing for safety....

Safety

Check your yard for 'easy fly' items, such as rakes, lawn orniments and such...they can cause havic in winds storms!

Never use a barbeque inside. I know that sounds like common sense, but you would be surpised how many people die or set fires to their homes with this problem.

Radios

Get a generator powered radio, one that has both long and short wave, this way, one way or the other, you will be in touch with news and what is happening.

They are not expensive, and Grundige (a german make) is one of the most reliable and best out there...

Warmth

Remember layered clothing, those wonderful wool sweaters that hardly any one wears any more, wicks off moisture and keeps you from getting hypothermia, another cause of problems out there.

Grids can be knocked out due to blown out power stations, and wind damage to them...downd lines and the like. Charles can fill us in on this one I bet!!

Power can take a very long time to restore depending upon what gets blown in the process, and where. Too, if lines are old, that takes even longer to fix, for it often means replacing the whole kit and caboodle. This happened in Canada, and in some places it took 6 months to restore power in rural areas!!! Worst Ice storm of the Century....Hundreds of miles effected. This was only a couple of years ago too!

Warnings

Yes, the west coast is in for it this year, as I had sent out the warning of what I saw.

It is NOT OVER YET>>>so please be as prepared as you can be.

Kristens area is going to be an area of troubls too this year..so prepare out there.

We are also getting very heavey winds on the Prairies too.

Since the Earth tilted after the Sunami...yup, and permanantly until the next quake moves our planet...

The winds have shifted accordingly...and you will see heavier storms with regard to the shift in the upper winds in our atmoshpere....even hurricans are predicted to be even MORE powerful than even LAST year....again, just get what you have together.

Shelters

Take stock too, of storm shelters in your town, should something happen to your homes! Pre knowlege helps to know what and where to go when there are no phone lines running.

Short-wave Radio

Short wave radio set ups can keep people also in contact with each other. Learning simple moris code also is useful. (who knew in the 21st cent, eh?)

If you have a big family, this could be a wise considaration.....you are in touch no matter what else the world is going through.

Skills

Brush up on first aid skills, for getting medical help in a crisis usually does not happen. YOU ARE IT!

Knowing what to do, even a little can make a world of difference, and it is NOT expensive to take. A couple of days and you have some solid basic information that can and does give comfort.

I know, I have used it in a car accident outside of my place of work! And it does come back to you! You remember more than you know after those classes.

If you are alone like I am, be self reliant as far as possible. Know what you yourself can do, and prepare accordingly.

Easy!

It is easy to just put it together, like you do for a holiday...going camping. You will have what you need when you need it, and you can then relax, and know that everything else for you is in Gods hands. God blesses prepardness. And you will feel His presence, and will not fear...

Weather is just a part of our earth. It changes too, due to the shift in our magnetic shield around our planet, and the earth is at this point, half way through one of these shifts, they happen every 2000 to 2500 years. As the poles reverse, the sheild gets weaker, and weather gets much more powerful, then after the shift things settle back down again. This process can take upward to ten years. That means yet another 5 or so years of what we are currently going through.

This has been photographed by NASA, and is current Scientific observational status with regards to weather shifts etc on our planet. Of course, there are many other factors out there that effect our weather. Volcanoes and earthquakes, global warming and so on.

I hope this helps!

There are many other things to considar, but this is a good start to add to your already good lists out there.

Blessings to all,
Much love,
Vicki Kathleen.
